TESTIMONIALS

After I left the Ecovillage, I drove to the ruins
of Calakmul, I didn’t feel much until I climbed
the multi-tiered pyramid, and then, out of breath
and mildly terrified of the height, I got a sense of
the majesty, grandeur and closeness to the heavens that the ancient site offered.

In a charming village of a hundred families, called
Veinte de Noviembre, where they still speak Mayan
and live in time-honored ways, we went clothes
shopping for huipile, the Maya woman’s traditional
dress. This simple, white cotton shift is embellished
with intricate embroidery. Margarita invited us
into her home to see how the garments are made.
